Chakra Journalling can be a really powerful way to bring some balance and insight to your Chakra healing and balancing journey.

I’ve always loved journalling. I love to write – in my other life, I am a copywriter and editor, so I guess it’s no surprise this is the avenue I tend to go to when I want to work through confusing feelings, difficult issues, or simply get things out of my head.

What types of Journalling are there?

Journalling in all its forms is such a powerful tool for goal setting, maintaining good mental health, and exploring parts of ourselves we don’t usually bring into the light.

There are lots of types of journalling and some people keep different journals depending on the theme they are exploring:

Gratitude journalling – this is a great way to get started with journalling. Simply listing three to five things you are grateful for is a fab way to start your day. But you really need to get into it:

“I’m grateful for tea because it’s nice” just won’t cut it!

But, “I’m grateful for tea because the ritual of warming the pot, pouring the tea and drinking from my favourite mug brings me comfort, warmth, and makes me feel safe” – that will do nicely!

You can add an evening question like ‘What went well today?” which will again help you to focus on the positive experiences and things in each day.

Expressive/Stream of Consciousness – this is literally a brain dump of everything that is banging around in your head! Just put pen to paper and see what happens. Don’t censor yourself or reread anything you write until you are finished. You can set a timer or a page limit (remember morning pages?) if you need to place a boundary around it.

The idea is to clear your mind ready to start the day free of mental distractions or stress hanging over from the day(s)/night(s) before. You need never read any of it back, but it can provide useful insights into your state of mind, patterns of thoughts, or issues you might need to deal with. See what works best for you.

Manifestation Journalling/Scripting – this is around speaking/writing your goals, dreams, and perfect days into existence. I do love scripting my days and sometimes spend 10 minutes in the morning writing out in the present tense how my day unfolds. I focus on how I want to feel during the day rather than what I actually do or achieve, but it is different for everyone. I read my day unfolding out loud and allow myself to feel the way I prescribe on the page, imagining it as I read. This helps me to visualise – I find it much easier to write and speak than to see. So, if you sometimes struggle to visualise, but like to write – this could be a good way to make things easier.

If you have a specific goal you would like to manifest, you can write it into existence in the same way. Write how you feel as you go through the journey and stages to achieving it. Visualise yourself doing the things you need to do, and finally feel how it will feel when you achieve it. Read this back to yourself as often as you like. Some people do it several times a day! But maybe once in the morning and evening is sufficient.

Or you can write and read it once, then put it away, trusting it’s on its way. Think about living ‘as if’ – by embodying the energy and actions of the you that already has the thing you want.

Personally, I think letting go and trusting is key, but experiment with what works – just avoid desperate energy!

Guided Journalling – if you find it difficult to get started, you can use prompts and guided journals to help you get going. You can buy yourself a fancy pre-printed journal designed for a specific purpose – I’ve just ordered this one as I loved her book so much. Or you can search the internet for some great questions based on your journalling purpose, or come up with your own.

Chakra Journalling – this is my favourite, obvs! I mix up my types of journalling, but I always do some form of Chakra Journalling every week, depending on how I’ve been feeling, or things that happened during the week. I usually do it on a Sunday morning, so I have plenty of time (my husband plays football on a Sunday morning, so I have the place to myself – I light a candle, play some relaxing music, and make the most of it!).

There are loads more types of journalling – from creative journalling, art journalling, to food and travel journalling! If you don’t fancy any of the above, have a quick Google and see if there’s anything else that takes your fancy!

Chakra Journalling Overview

Chakra Journalling is all about asking specific guided questions which are related to the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual associations of each of the Chakras.

Dialling down in this way can help to uncover insights into your general Chakra health, help soothe or balance specific Chakras, and provide areas to work on and actions to take in your everyday life to achieve more balance.

You could use your regular Chakra Journalling as a way to journey through your Chakra system from Root to Crown, uncovering information and pointers as you go, so you can balance each one in turn.

Or if you know you have imbalances in specific Chakras, you can go straight to the source and work on the ones that require support.

If you don’t know which Chakras you might need to work on, a great place to start is with my Chakra Health Checkup – a quick quiz, which will help you identify which Chakras might be out of whack, so you can go straight to work in the right place!

Chakra Journalling Specifics

So, you know you want to do some Chakra Journalling, you did the Chakra Health Checkup, so you know what you want to work on – what next?

Before you start, you might want to create the right ‘mood’ – light a candle, do a short meditation or visualisation, get comfy, use a specific journal, get your favourite cuppa on the go, arrange your favourite crystals – whatever works to prepare you for the writing to come. I like to rub some Chakra Balm into my temples or Chakra points before I start – either the one corresponding to the Chakra I’m working on, or Third Eye Chakra Temple, Body & Hand Balm which is great for connecting you to your intuition and visioning capabilities.
